Ways to record transactions using the Vouchers Types in Tally ERP 9

For recording any transaction in Tally Accounting Software, one must use any of the available Voucher types in the Business Package. Tally has offered 18 diverse types of vouchers excluding Payroll Vouchers. These are known as predefined voucher types and even people can create as many Voucher types as they can, with such vouchers known as User defined voucher types. For example, accounting voucher creation for cash and bank payments are relevant to pre-defined payment voucher. And for distinguishing the sales as cash or credit, we can create our own set of customized voucher types. The pre-defined voucher types have been classified into three based on the nature of the voucher creation.

Inventory Vouchers

All the inventory or stock related transactions prior to invoicing such as orders and delivery notes are being recorded in Tally ERP 9 using the Inventory Voucher types. Using this type of voucher, one can also record the creation of a compound stock item from raw materials or transferring of goods from one go down to the other in Tally ERP 9. Some types of Inventory vouchers are:
  • Purchase order
  • Stock Journal
  • Sales order
  • Receipt note
  • Physical stock
  • Rejections Out
  • Delivery Note
  • Rejections In

Accounting Vouchers

In every business, one can see the purchases, sales, receipts and payments. All such transactions are called Accounting transactions, thus such transactions will be recorded in Tally Software using the given predefined voucher types:
  • Receipt
  • Payment
  • Purchase
  • Sales
  • Debit Note
  • Credit Note
  • Contra
  •  Journal

Order Vouchers

These types of voucher are helpful for the manufacturing company as they raise job works and they require recording the raw material details. Thus it’s not mandatory for non-manufacturing companies.
  • Job work In order
  • Job work out order
These are the types of Voucher available in Tally ERP 9, using which we can record the transaction in the application.
